They have NEVER been to McDonalds!!

We have a perfect attendance incentive at my school.  Every time your ENTIRE class is present, you get to cross off a letter of the phrase "perfect attendance."  Each time you cross off all 17 letters your class gets some type of reward.  Here are the rewards:

1st party- popcorn & a drink
2nd- bubble party
3rd- Frozen treats
4th-Lunch at the park
5th- Go to Sonic (drink party)
6th-pizza party
7th- a surprise!

It's a big deal for the PreK kiddos to earn these parties!!  We just get sick a LOT!!  However, we earned our 5th party last week.  Our Sonic is just so close to the road that we decided to go to McDonald's instead.  This way, they got to play in the play center.  We were blessed a second time when McD also offered the kids breakfast! (a juice box and a sausage biscuit).  Many of the kids had not been on the bus before so it was really sweet seeing their reactions to it.

But the play center.. I KNOW they've been in the play room before! LOL  Their excitement was contagious!  They had the time of their lives.  The hour went by quickly and we were back on the bus headed back to the school.  We had such a good time!  Can't wait for our 6th party!  We can do it!!

Does your school have any kind of incentives for attendance?

Naughty language. =(

I'm interested in hearing how you handle bad language in your class.  I teach PreK and still have one that obviously heard a BAD word... we're talking more than the "stupid" word... the F bomb with extra added on to it!!  My little one has said it quite a few times and just now saying it in my own classroom.  Said it while coloring with her classmates..not even in anger, but while playing.  This just makes me so sad.

One part of me says send to the principal right away (which is what the parents want) and another part of me says she learned it from someone.  She is seeking the attention she is receiving from this so if I choose to ignore it or make her punishment away from the other students (sitting away as we talk low and offer better choices of words) to minimize the attention.  Anything to make it not worth it to say it.

What is your best advice on this?  This is a 4-5 year old.

Frog Life Cycle COMIC :: The Frog said WHAT?!

I just have to brag on the artwork at Scrappin Doodles!!  They always have exactly what I'm looking for!  With that said... I can humbly say, I LOVE this Life Cycle of a Frog lesson!!  I've made it comic book style to appeal to the kiddos..and hopefully to their teachers, too!

This is for the SMARTboard and has several interactive pieces to it.  Guess the stage the frog is in... label the stage... sort the descriptive words to the correct picture.. and then draw your own comic and tell what YOU think the frog is saying!  I know there is an artist in ALL of us!  Even if your frog has stick legs! =D

I have this linked to the lesson in my store, so you can't really see the details here... Check under my PINS tab to see the full pin.

Here it is!!  YAY

Plants unit

When do you usually begin a unit on Plants?  Nearer to Mother's Day?  Now, so that you can plant a seed and it will be a nice flower by Mother's Day?  How early do you start your unit?

Adjectives A Fishy Tale of Task Cards & QR Codes

I had so much fun making these task cards!!  Can't wait to share them with our 2nd grade team!  I love the little fishing guy...but I especially love that there are 60 task cards in this lesson and all with a QR code.  Even if you didn't have an iPod these could be used as regular task cards.
